RIADS & LUXURY HOMES
Everybody knows Riads, these traditional houses built around a garden patio where birds and fountains sing together. Our teams are constantly crisscrossing the medinas for authentic guesthouses offering the best services. And since beauty and charm are not confined to Riads only, we have also identified many places with a particular style: ancient and modern palaces, villas, inns, kasbahs (fortified houses), etc.
The riads are mostly located in the heart of the medina, and they are the most authentic way to experience life in the cities of Morocco. With their refined decoration inspired by traditional architecture and their outstanding services, these old houses which were converted into guest houses will make you enjoy the art of Moroccan living. The average number of rooms in each establishment rarely goes beyond 6.
The riads are ranked 1st or 2nd class according to their degree of refinement, facilities and services.
Note: A distinction should be made between riad and dar. The riad is a house built around a large patio garden; While dar ("house" in Arabic) has a smaller patio and not always planted with trees.
In Marrakesh, houses are characterized by their sober style inherited from the Saharan origins of the city. The Arab-Andalusian style, more common in Fez, has on the contrary, a large decorative richness. The Art Deco style, which goes back to the 1920s – 30s, is rare.
Note: The riads are usually located in the heart of the medina, and may be close to mosques, whose early calls to the dawn prayer by the muezzin might disturb light sleepers.
