For more flexibility, JMO Adventures lets you choose the dates of your raid, other than those suggested on our site . Tell us about the dates that suit you and we will try, as best as we could, to adapt them to our schedules. Departures are guaranteed from one vehicle (2 people) and without any further charges.
Description of Dunes and Desert Raid
A very comprehensive raid: from Fez to Marrakesh via the Grand South and Essaouira, you will explore the most beautiful landscapes of Morocco in conditions of maximum comfort.. The route was designed to allow for some free time for sightseeing and accommodation has been carefully planned: nights in a bivouac, an ideal way to immerse yourself in nature, alternating between nights in hotels and charming guesthouses.
Day 1: Fez
Arrival in Fez, the spiritual capital of the Cherifian Kingdom and a cradle of Moroccan ancient history, check-in, dinner and overnight at the hotel Mérinides 5 * (or similar) ideally located and overlooking the city of Fez with an unspoiled view over the medina.
Day 2: Fez - Midelt: 180 kms with 96 kms off-road
This splendid road takes you through the lush lands of the Middle Atlas among orchards and cedar tree forests where you can stop for a lunch break for . Arrival in Midelt, dinner and overnight at the Kasbah Asma 4* or similar.
Day 3: Midelt - Merzouga:
After breakfast, departure for the famous dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga.,. Arrival,dinner in bivouac under real nomad tents for more authenticity, with the possibility,of watching the spectacular sunset or sunrise from the top of the dunes.(extra Charge).
Day 4: Merzouga Taouz - Mhamid: 290 kms off-road
After breakfast, and after watching the sunrise, departure through an off-road track for Mhamid... Along the way , there is a succession of equally enchanting oases like Oulad Driss, Bounou,etc.. Dinner and overnight in Dar Azawad, a beautiful and famous guesthouse in the region.
Day 5: Mhamid -Tata: 288 kms with 250 off-road
After breakfast , Leave for Tata through the Anti-Atlas off-road tracks which are punctuated by oases and sites which host rock carvings .. Dinner and night at the Relais Des Sables 3 star hotel or similar.
Day 6: Tata-Tafraoute: 185 kms with 130 kms offroad
After breakfast, leave for Tafraoute, a small town on the Anti-Atlas embedded in a beautiful circus of pink mountains, and known for its rounded slippers.. Walk in the surrounding area (almond trees are in bloom in January / February).. Dinner and overnight at the hotel the Amandiers 4 *, conveniently located, overlooking the city, with view over the mountains.
Day 7: Tafraoute-Marrakesh
After breakfast, departure for Marrakesh. Lunch will be taken at Ouled Berhil after which you will continue the drive over the Tizi-n-Test pass where you will have the chance to enjoy spectacular scenery. Dinner and overnight at the Ryad Mogador Menara 5* hotel or similar.
Day 8: Marrakesh
End of program and departure from Marrakesh.
